How might we make a pair of identical trestles that can support 500 pounds?
I was inspired by Japanese joinery while creating these trestles. They are entirely friction fit. No glue, no screws. This also allows it to be completely broken down for easy transportation.
This self restriction led me to a strong linear design. Strong and very wobbly at first.
The addition of a welded metal tee running through the trestle gave it sturdiness horizontally to match it’s vertical sturdiness. The multi-material nature also became a strong design feature unto itself.
